Capturing the Nuance of ScarJo

Over the past week, I've been working on this painting. I took the original photo subject matter and tried to give it an eighties look and overall. Part of it is learning to be comfortable with the subject matter. In terms of gender, I have a harder time painting and drawing women than men. Maybe I find it intimidating? I need to work on the hair here, and a bit on the lips, and maybe I overdid the eye shadow. But in pushing for the eighties vibe, I was trying to go a little overboard in the neon department. Overall, it's been a lot of fun doing this, and hope to do other portraits like it in the future.
